25.9.26 - Headteachers message to families

Belong, Engage, Enjoy

National Teaching Assistants’ Day and Macmillan Coffee Morning:

This morning, we celebrated National Teaching Assistants’ Day alongside our Macmillan Coffee Morning. It was a lovely opportunity to recognise and thank our amazing support staff for the difference they make every day to the lives of our pupils.

Staff were welcomed with cakes, thank you cards, and a chance to read some of the wonderful comments and messages shared by our school community. It was a fantastic way to start our Friday morning and a reminder of how much we value the dedication, care and support our teaching assistants provide throughout the year.

Monster Project:

This morning, pupils will be busy creating their monster designs as part of The Monster Project in partnership with West Nottinghamshire College. It has been wonderful to see so many children arriving in monster-themed hoodies, T-shirts and accessories, helping to create a fun and creative atmosphere across the school.

I am sure we will see some fantastic ideas and can't wait to share the finished monster creations with the college students, who will bring them to life through animation.

Accessible Bikes Session:

Yesterday, pupils enjoyed a fantastic morning taking part in our accessible bikes session, which was rearranged from July due to the extreme heat. There were lots of smiles, laughter and excitement as pupils had the opportunity to get active, build their confidence and have fun with their friends.

It was wonderful to see everyone making the most of the experience, and we hope you enjoyed seeing some of the photos shared on Seesaw showcasing the morning's activities.

Rights Respecting School - Gold Party:

Next Friday we will be celebrating our achievement of the Rights Respecting Gold Award with a whole-school Gold Celebration Party!

Pupils can come dressed in something gold or yellow. Throughout the day, classes will be taking part in a range of gold-themed activities, including creating special artwork and decorating buns and biscuits with gold icing and sprinkles.

In the afternoon, we will be enjoying a whole-school karaoke celebration, alongside gold-themed dance sessions. The hall will also be transformed with plenty of gold decorations to help mark this fantastic achievement.

Reminder: Parents Consultations - Wednesday 14th October:

Our Autumn 1 Parent Consultation Meetings will take place on Wednesday 14th October between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Your child's class teacher will be in touch to arrange an appointment. Meetings can take place in person, over the telephone or via Microsoft Teams, allowing families to choose the option that works best for them.

Reminder from the Medications Team:

All healthcare and medication plans in school must be followed at all times. This is not optional and forms part of our school policies and procedures. Failure to follow these plans could place our students at risk and potentially cause harm.

If you require any clarification or further information, please speak to the Medications Team or Charlotte.

Weekly Safeguarding Update:

As we move further into autumn, mornings and evenings are becoming darker. This is a great time to remind children and young people about staying safe near roads, whether they are walking, cycling, scooting or travelling by car.

A few simple reminders include:

  • Wearing bright or reflective clothing where possible.
  • Holding hands or staying close to adults near roads and car parks.
  • Crossing at safe places and avoiding distractions such as mobile devices.
  • Making sure seatbelts and appropriate car seats are always used correctly.

Have a great weekend!
